One of my goals is to cultivate “everyday creativity”. I figured out recently that I’m interested in learning lots of different creative arts, not just being an author.

So, one of my new goals is to have a stack as high as my hip of art journals that are completed. Several of my kids and their cousins ended up getting tattoos to honor their grandparents as they passed. I think if I fill up these notebooks, then, if they decide to honor me with a tattoo, they will have choices.

(I kid.)

I don’t plan ever to sell art. But I’d like to have some version of a record of progress and growth.

I’m still finding my voice as an artist. What I know so far is that I enjoy multimedia, which means you get to mix watercolor with acrylics with inks with all kinds of different things.

But I am also really challenged by portraits. Is there anything harder to draw than a face? And more so if it’s of somebody that you know and you want it to look like them?

So here we go.
